What are CEU’S?

Once you earn your medical coding certification and begin working as a coder, your credentials will need to be kept up to date. Typically as a working medical coder, you will need to report CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) at least once every 2 years.

Why?

Medical technology in general, and coding systems more specifically, are continually evolving. Because you’re working in a field affected by rapid changes and improvements, it will be your responsibility to stay familiar with the industry.

There are a few ways to do this. Most often this involves either attending live conferences or workshops, or completing online training.

CareerWize is proud to offer online training to help you keep up to date with your coding credentials so your certification never expires.

Make sure to check with your certifying body so you understand the right way to earn your CEU’s. CareerWize offers CEU’s for both AAPC and AHIMA, the two largest certifying organizations.

 Current CEU Course:

Radiology - Diagnostic

The CareerWize Diagnostic Radiology course is worth 25 CEU’s. It can be taken from the comfort of your own home and completed according to your schedule.

CEU Earning Window:

In order to earn CEUs with CareerWize, the course must be completed by November 30, 2020. Following November 30th, according to AAPC and AHIMA rules, CEU certificates of course completion will not be awarded. Finishing the course before this date is a must!

Yearly CEU Limit

The AAPC and AHIMA guidelines for CareerWize allow CareerWize to grant a maximum of 25 CEUs per year to coder regardless of how many courses are completed by a coder in a given year.
